Ricoh/Lanier Named As A 2015 World’s Most Ethical Company

TOKYO, March 11, 2015 – Ricoh Company, Ltd. announced today that it has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute, the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as a 2015 World’s Most Ethical Company®.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies designation recognizes those organizations that have had a material impact on the way business is conducted by fostering a culture of ethics and transparency at every level of the company.

Being a 6th time honoree underscores Ricoh’s commitment to leading ethical business standards and practices ensuring long-term value to key stakeholders including customers, employees, suppliers, regulators and investors.

“We are pleased to be once again named as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in recognition of our long-standing initiatives,” said Shiro Sasaki, Corporate Executive Vice President of Ricoh Company, Ltd. “In accordance with the principles of the Ricoh Way, we believe that earning trust as a global citizen hinges on a corporate culture that embraces a sense of mission to meet the expectations of diverse stakeholders—a culture that operates under the highest ethical standards in line with the expectations of society as a whole.”

“The World’s Most Ethical Companies embrace the correlation between ethical business practice and improved company performance. These companies use ethics as a means to further define their industry leadership and understand that creating an ethical culture and earning the World’s Most Ethical Companies recognition involves more than just an outward facing message or a handful of senior executives saying the right thing,” said Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich. “Earning this recognition involves the collective action of a global workforce from the top down. We congratulate everyone at Ricoh for this extraordinary achievement.”

The World's Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient™ (EQ) framework developed over years of research to provide a means to assess an organization’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies, rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics. The EQ framework and methodology is determined, vetted and refined by the expert advice and insights gleaned from Ethisphere’s network of thought leaders and from the World’s Most Ethical Company Methodology Advisory Panel.

Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership, innovation and reputation (10%).

Lanier Raises the Bar in Entry-Level A3 Space

The 25-ppm Lanier MP 2501SP is BLI’s Winter 2014 “Pick” award winner for Outstanding Entry-Level A3 Monochrome MFP.

“The MP 2501SP’s impeccable reliability, impressive scan speeds and strong security feature set make it an excellent choice for environments in need of a full-featured device without all the frills associated with its higher-priced brethren,” said David Sweetnam, head of Research and Lab Services for BLI’s UK laboratory. The device demonstrated perfect reliability over the course of its 30,000-impression evaluation and exhibited above average scan speeds and impressive print and copy quality. In addition, first-copy times set new benchmarks for models in its speed range.

The device features a tiltable control panel and a home screen that can be customized for individual users, and Lanier’s Device Manager NX Lite offers a high level of functionality for fleet managers to monitor both Lanier and non-Lanier models. The security feature set includes standard Unauthorized Copy Control in both drivers and a standard Data Overwrite Security and Encryption Kit with support for the latest encryption algorithms.

According to Jason Dizzine, vice president of technology marketing for Lanier Americas, user requirements for MFP flexibility and functionality continue to expand. “At Lanier, we see the MFP as an information portal that provides two-way information flow for in-house, remote and mobile workers,” Dizzine said. “We call this anytime, anyplace access ‘information mobility,’ and we’re honored to be chosen for BLI’s 2014 Winter ‘Pick’ awards.”

“Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency” Award

Lanier’s 30-ppm MP C3003 and 31-ppm Aficio MP C305SPF earned recognition this test season for their exceptional projected annual energy consumption rates, which were 66 percent and 54 percent lower than their respective averages. The MP C3003 also exhibited above average tested toner yields for all colors, and the MP C305SPF offers a faster than average recovery time from sleep mode during daily use, which means that there is no productivity tradeoff for using the energy-saving modes that allowed the unit to achieve its stellar results. Additional features include blank-page removal, which helps to reduce paper use; and job review mode, which helps to reduce paper and consumables waste.

Lanier Shines in the Low-End A3 Color Category

The Lanier MP C3003 is BLI’s (Buyer's Laboratory Inc) Winter 2014 “Pick” for Outstanding 21- to 30-ppm A3 Color MFP.

In addition to flawless reliability and benchmark-setting color scan speeds and first-copy times, the MP C3003 delivered an above average performance in BLI’s job stream test with the PCL driver, which means it can meet the demands of real-world office environments, where multiple jobs are sent to the device at once during busy periods of the day. Furthermore, color print and copy output exhibited bright, saturated color and above average production of pastel shades.

Also commended was the MP C3003’s ease of management, thanks to Ricoh’s Device Manager NX Lite, which offers fleet managers a high level of functionality for monitoring both Ricoh and non-Lanier models. BLI was further impressed with Lanier ’s new control panel, which is considerably more customizable than with previous-generation models.

According to Jason Dizzine, vice president of technology marketing for Lanier Americas, user requirements for MFP flexibility and functionality continue to expand. “At Lanier , we see the MFP as an information portal that provides two-way information flow for in-house, remote and mobile workers,” Dizzine said. “We call this anytime, anyplace access ‘information mobility,’ and we’re honored to be chosen for BLI’s 2014 Winter ‘Pick’ awards.”
